Ruth Baker Barrow
Ruth Baker Barrow, 92, of Roanoke Rapids died Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at Kindred Healthcare in Roanoke Rapids. She was born in Pitt County, the daughter of the late Jeffie Baker and Nina Lamn Baker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Cromwell Barrow, three sisters, three brothers, and one granddaughter, Sherri Leigh Cox.
Mrs. Barrow was the owner of Ruth’s Ceramic Shop and a charter member of the Roanoke Rapids Church of God.
She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Cox of the home; her son, David Eugene Barrow and his wife, Brenda, of Myrtle Beach, SC; her sister, Fannie Chestnut and her husband, Leonidas, of Roanoke Rapids; two grandchildren, Tracy Soucy of Myrtle Beach and Terri Cox and Robert Taylor of Roanoke Rapids; a great-grandson, David Cox; special great-daughter, Jessica Cox Haselman and her husband, James, of Roanoke Rapids; two great-granddaughters,Emily Soucy and Allyssa Gates, of the home; a great-grandson, Michael Harrington, also of Roanoke Rapids; two great-great-grandchildren, Abigail Cox and Jackson Haselman; and a special nephew, McNeil Chestnut and his wife, Sandra, of Raleigh.
Askew Funeral & Cremation Services in Roanoke Rapids is handling the arrangements, where the family will receive friends on Thursday, January 12, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 13, at 11:00 a.m. at the Roanoke Rapids Church of God with Rev. Michael Mooneyham officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Guardian Care for their care and attention to Mrs. Barrow.
